Tenant Deposit Insurance Does My Landlord Want To Keep My Deposit?

Does my landlord want to keep my deposit? - tenant deposit insurance

Rent a house for six months, no contract, no papers. The house was very old but in good condition and some things that should be addressed.
We will break in June this year, I heard rumors about keeping my landlord pay the tenant money.
Well, we were shocked, we have to rent 325 deposit shortly after my husband gave him 520, and the deposit of 325 is the total rent of 875.
Now the owner may have requested is not acceptable, because security is not at all certain that the damage to the house. We lived there six months and never damaged Infact they do best. The fear that the owners may want to keep the money. They say they always find something, BEC, who want to keep the money. The carpet was old and could mean the color, it was a hot potato, we have never iron.
Am I obligated to restore security? if we go to court to win? No papers have been signed
